Frequently Asked Questions
Do you charge for recycling?
The majority of items are completely free to recycle, but due to down streaming costs we do have to charge a processing fee to recycle the following items:
- CRT monitors – $25 each
- TVs – $50 each
- Commercial floor printers – $75 each
What do you do with these electronics?
We want to assure you that we do not bulk ship electronics overseas which could hurt the environment. We believe that reuse is the best option for all electronic waste; therefore, we may donate, resell, or recycle items we receive. Items that are designated for recycling are dismantled, segregated by metal, and taken to local scrap yards for processing. Circuit boards, cell phones, hard drives, and a variety of other items are processed and taken to an R2 certified recycler.
What happens to data stored on my hard drive?
We use proven data destruction techniques to ensure all data on your hard drive is destroyed. These methods include 1) a professional DoD standard 3-pass wipe using our professional wipe software, 2) disassembling the hard drive’s platters and physically destroying the information and shipping the disassembled hard drive to an R2 certified recycler, and 3) [coming soon] placing the hard drive in a hard drive deguasser which uses a powerful magnetic field to disrupt the magnetic domains where the data is stored leaving the hard drive unrecoverable.
Instead of destroying the data on your hard drive, we can remove the hard drive and return it to you.
I want to schedule a pick up. How does that work?
Scheduling a pick up is easy. Please call or email us to discuss the types of items you would like us to pick up. We can usually schedule a pick up within 3-5 business days of your inquiry. This service is completely free for businesses in our catchment area. All other inquiries will be handled on a case by case basis.
